Ireland Moves St. Patrick's Day

It's their own patron's feast day, they can move it.

Roman Catholic officials in Ireland are moving St. Patrick's Day up two days in 2008 to avoid celebrations interfering with Holy Week.

It's been sixty years since Ireland started celebrating St. Paddy's Day and church officials say that it shouldn't stop secular festivities anywhere else.
